AOC is well on her way to not being relevant, if she does not stop her actions.

What a shame that she was not mature enough to stay away from the Press. They do not care about her. Simply the flavor of the week. I do hope she listens to the more mature.

I believe the criticism needs to stop, democrats criticizing her are only giving republicans fuel to go against her. How about all the horrible, stupid things republicans say and do on a daily basis? AOC is throwing great ideas out there, and like Kamala Harris said, these are good ideas that need to be discussed, if we all feel they work we go with them, if not, then we find new ideas.

I hope people in DU stop criticizing AOC and start supporting her. She is not the kind of person who will allow repubs to trash her, and I think that is great, one has to fight fire with fire, but if democrats get on the repubs side, then her fight will be harder. I am saddened when I read democrats bash their own...

How many repubs have made any comment on Steve King's horrible racial comments? You don't eat your own, you support them.

Kirsten Elizabeth Gillibrand anyone? Did she do a service to the Democratic party by going hard at Al Franken who had proven himself many times over that he was an asset to the party?

I hope people on DU stop bashing AOC, she needs our support, otherwise we are working with the repubs. And no, she will not stop being relevant, the only way that can happen is if Democrats unite with repubs to make it so.

...and claiming the "establishment" Democratic leaders in Congress have done nothing. You say "I am saddened when I read democrats bash their own", I am too. How many of the new women members of Congress have been out "bashing" their fellow Democrats? Certainly not Ayana Pressley, or Jahana Hayes, or Sharice Davids, or Katie Hill, or others.

By the way, her group, Justice Democrats, has bashed Henry Cuellar for "voting with republicans" - do they realize that in this young 116th Congress she's "voted with republicans" more than he has? Look at the roll call votes (there have been 25 so far).

She and her campaign manager (and now chief of staff) were the two board members listed on the Justice Democrats website. She and Justice Democrats shared the same address in Knoxville Tennessee last year, the address she used when she filed her Statement of Candidacy.

I happen to agree with the sentiment - honor your elders - but no need to rewrite history.

I'm a university professor. We periodically hire young new faculty members within our department.

We want these young colleagues to bring new ideas. We want them to be heard. But from what I've seen, the new hires who go on to prosper the most aren't the most strident with new ideas. They're the hires who suggest new ideas, but also watch and learn from those who've been around a few years to see how the system works. They bring a new perspective, but it's informed by a better sense of needs and procedure.

This is, in a nutshell, how many of us see AOC. I love that she's in Congress, and I agree that she's the future, not only of the Democratic Party but of our country's leadership. But she's only been in Congress a few weeks. Like any new arrival, she's on a learning curve. I would like to see all new Democrats in Congress balance their attention between bringing forth new ideas and learning how best to bring them about.

I think she's of the view that there's no reason to see how the system works, because it doesn't.

grow into the job, and I'm glad to see a good healthy injection of spirit, social awareness, and energy into the parr's bloodstream. A blanket condemnation of anyone who criticizes her as "the past" is BS. Politics at the national level is a complex mix of relationships, understanding how the rules and regulations can be used to your advantage, working with a team to get stuff done. It takes time to really get a handle on it. I welcome her outspoken views, but I hope she also listens to some people who have decades of real experience fighting the GOP.

I think the people who have a problem with her are the problem. We need a few hundred like her.

That's just my .02. But I'd like a Democratic party where she's the norm, the mainstream, both in political views and in how she approaches the media, how she communicates, and the lack of respect for failed and ancient institutions.
