(3,014 posts)Repercussions, I believe.
I was one of the poor scholarship kids in a wealthy catholic school. I would be so ashamed if these were my school mates. But it seems like no one who could really make a difference cares.

BLACKOUT 2008
This fan didn't even leave his hair untouched (though he probably should have kept it natural on Blackout night and saved the silver paint for another day).

(28,976 posts)It covered them calling the black basket player a name, the rape joke, them harassing the girls screaming build that wall etc. And since then a minister who refereed games talking about all kinds of issues.
But watching the entire video was important. It did give a more nuanced view of what occurred. The kids were still disrespectful and out of control though.
There does need to be some changes made there. Hopefully by then meeting with Nathan they can be reached a bit.

(9,350 posts)Who knows what that young black basketball players said to those students before they wore blackface and taunted him. Who knows what those women said to them before those students said those raunchy things to those womean. Also, maybe the young students wore blackface in an attempt to calm things down at the game. Maybe they made those comments to those women because they were trying to calm those women and make them feel safe.

(1,261 posts)At DeMatha Catholic High School in MD, we painted ourselves from the waist up in red, blue, or both. Our rivals, John Carroll in DC, painted their faces Green, Gold, or both. I'm glad that our colors weren't black and red.
As for the harassment? We had a chant back in the 80s "You're Momma! (4 claps) You're Momma! (4 claps!) You're Momma was good enough for me! (6 claps). Yeeeahhhhh!!!"
Pissed our priests off royally. Fuck 'em. We kept doing it anyway.
