During the Republican National Convention last week, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan started mocking President Obama with the 1980 Ronald Reagan line: "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"
However, ThinkProgress.org and MSNBC (video below) reported that in January of this year, Mitt Romney admitted the economy was getting better during an interview with Laura Ingraham.
Romney said: "Well, of course its getting better. The economy always gets better after a recession, there is always a recovery."
Ingraham replied: "Isnt it a hard argument to make if youre saying, like, OK, he inherited this recession, he took a bunch of steps to try to turn the economy around, and now, were seeing more jobs, but vote against him anyway? Isnt that a hard argument to make? Is that a stark enough contrast?"
Romney came back with: "Have you got a better one, Laura? It just happens to be the truth."
Romney video begins at 9:08 below.
