On second thought, maybe not so softly!

(205,701 posts)He pushes the envelope regarding Trump on his show every night and there's never any doubt that he does believe what he says - so it's good to hear him making the same points in all seriousness. And welcome to DU!

(205,701 posts)But he's off this week, mentioned his "vacation" on Thursday's show (this one) and I make a point of looking ahead for the guests (I post the political ones) and he's in repeats starting last Friday and for this coming week. Looks like all the late night shows are - Seth Meyers, The Daily Show (they're showing theme "clip shows" ) and Colbert.

(86,691 posts)I guess that's why I can't find Friday's monologue!
I usually get to catch up on them in the early morning before I head down to the farm for the day. I get up really early and I go to bed shortly after I get home all dirty and cooked from the sun. I don't do any physical work. I just walk around and figure out what the workers need to do and how they should probably go about doing it and when. I like it but it wears me out every day. It's nice when I have a day when I can just enjoy being home which includes watching the videos you post!
I'm very grateful.

(205,701 posts)The least he could do was finish out the week! LOL. And it sounds like things are going well for you, glad to hear it! Though being outside even in such nice weather can wear you out. A week ago today I went back to Vermont for a reunion with my oldest friends who I went to summer camp with. It was a busy 3 days - Monday we climbed a mountain, Tuesday we toured a sister camp (and I got to spend time with horses! ) and on Wednesday we went kayaking before I went home. It was a terrific time, but I'm no longer 12 and I'm tired!
At least Bill Maher and John Oliver are back - and JO had Wanda Sykes as a guest tonight! I'll post that as soon as it's online!

(86,691 posts)Yes, things are going well at this time, hope it lasts. I am in a new apartment too and it's far nicer to have a private owner landlord than a corporation. And it's near the farm. I am helping a friend who decided to become a farmer for a certain crop and because I helped last year, I was invited to do the same thing only from the beginning this time. It has a summer camp kind of vibe to it, everybody is pretty chill, we don't start doing much of anything until everybody is ready and I know what everyone is doing. But the days are insanely long this far north and when you easily lose track of time, you end up being outside for 12+ hours... most days. We barter meals and such for compensation, it's a good way to enjoy the summer and have all the crop product I will ever need at the end of it all! I'll have the winter to not get up early and venture out to ski and then retreat to the dwelling the rest of the time.

(205,701 posts)I'm so glad you're having such a productive and fulfilling summer - and it's bound to be cooler there than it is farther south. Plus, being with friends and kindred spirits has to make the time pass, too. We moved a lot when I was a kid, so my constant friends were from summer camp - and one of my best friend's parents owned the camp, so she's the one who plans these reunions.
I spend much less time outside in nice weather, these days - when I was still in school I had a summer job at an amusement park which I loved! But it's gotten so much hotter these days I don't know if I could stand it now. It was warm in Vermont, we had excellent weather, but it's noticeably cooler in the mountains and near the lake. I remember mostly wearing long pants and a jacket even when I was at summer camp!
