(1 post)Conservatives, in a process that was nurtured heavily by the Southern Strategy and the "Evangelical" alignment with the GOP, have reached a point of incidental respect for ethics. The obstructionism that fabricated a Constitutional crisis around President Clinton, and was practiced extensively during the Obama administration, served to change a Supreme Court seat from liberal to conservative.
My prediction is that, if other events do not preclude impeachment counts being sent to the Senate, Senator McConnell will offer an excuse to not "support and defend the Constitution of the United States". He will provide the functional equivalent of his excuse for refusing to "advise and consent" to the nomination of Merrick Garland.
Before Merrick Garland had been nominated, 1 hour after confirmation of Antonin Scalia's death, Senator McConnell stated:
The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.
The asshole didn't even express condolences to the family before claiming squatter's rights on a nomination. For the impeachment of Resident Trump, expect something like this:
The American people should have a voice in telling a Democratic Party lynch mob that they want them to stop playing politics and work on helping the victims of the Biden-Obama administration. Therefore, the American people should be allowed to vote on President Trump's innocence in November.
