Cats Movie Video Review (language warning)

I didn't like it; I felt uncomfortable; I fucking hated it; I really, really, really didn't like this movie.

Chris Stuckmann is a respected film reviewer who usually delivers measured, thoughtful reviews. He seldom lapses into profane bad taste but Cats, The Movie, got the better of him.

Liked the movie too. My wife said this reviewer spent too many hours on X-Box and doesn't appreciate it for the art it is. Much is lost on the younger generation. Apparently his opinion really pissed her off.

(I'm enjoying her narrative.)

I only saw the rating and reviews on IMDB which were truly devastating.
Movie also seems headed to be a major flop: 95 million movie and only made 10 million in its first week.

I dislike musicals. So I no judge of the movie. But he decided before he “stepped” into the theater.

I saw it this weekend with my best friend who is basically "a prude" and she and I loved it. What did you expect? Have any of you ever seen a cat? Then you should already have known what cats DO. And the music was wonderful. Grow up. There was nothing unexpected in a movie with that title.

I have posted on another thread my thoughts about why critics are so negative:

Matriarchal society (not in the original stage musical where Old Deuteronomy is male). No guns. No car chases. No space shit. And no sex.

It's about empathy. The female who is broken and battered wins the big ticket. The males do not dominate and the bad guy is not likeable.

It's poetry, song, and dance.

Jennifer Hudson turns in a masterful, controlled performance that had me in tears.

It's not Disney. I loved it.

My late husband and I saw the musical on the stage in London in the 80's. Loved it, too.

He would be horrified to see real cats slinking around with their subtle movements, twitching tails and furtive glances, all of which he would ascribe to horniness. This video reminds me of the 911 call by someone who tried pot for the first time and is freaking out.

His staring off to the side (like in the beginning) for five minutes then fade to black.

I saw it and ehhhhhh... Best performance was Ian McKellen's after he stopped lapping milk. I liked the railroad cat number, but unfortunately it was somewhat annoying in that it drastically changed the size of the cats when compared to the other sets so that they could all dance on a railroad rail. Judi Dench cannot sing, and her breaking the fourth wall was done rather hamfistedly. Maybe not the complete hot mess they've made it out to be - only a somewhat slow descent into half-madness.
