Be ready with tissue if you haven't seen Earthlings. It's a film that will take courage to watch but is necessary if we are serious about saving this planet.

(1 post)They watched "Earthlings" together some years ago and turned vegan within a month! They credit the movie with the change. I could only watch the first ten minutes of "Earthlings" before I couldn't watch anymore. Our relationship to animals is too sad. I've been a vegetarian since 1971.

(22,756 posts)We have to do the hard work to truly understand systemic racism, Phoenix concluded. I think it is the obligation of the people that have created and perpetuate and benefit from a system of oppression to be the ones that dismantle it. So thats on us.

(8,053 posts)dt's name wasn't mentioned ONE time in any of the speeches tonight but these wonderful performers were talking about humanity, compassion, and just plain caring. What they said illustrated contrast. People can't say "these stupid Hollywood liberals should quit saying things about ...and stay out of politics." This wasn't "politics." This was about being good and decent human beings. I'm a movie fanatic...I live for them and have my whole life. Joaquin Phoenix in Joker was quite possibly the best performance I've ever seen by an actor and that's saying a lot.
