First "Lincoln" movie trailer released tonight.

Based on "Team of Rivals," Spielburg production and John Williams music, with Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln, Sally Field as Mary, and another excellent cast. I'm holding my breath that it will be as good as I hope it will be. Trailer looks good. Of course we will go see it.

Daniel Day Lewis looks and sounds a lot like Lincoln. The book Team of Rivals was very good, so hopefully this will be too.

Tell those types he was not only a Republican but the founder of the Republican Party and they not only deny it, they get mad as hell that you slandered the GOP. But then, these same types get all weepy over the American Flag when their ancestors opened fire on it.

This movie may be good, but it will never be as fun.

Lincoln had all the hard decisions and so little resources to get the job done. But he did it.

After watching Lincoln kill Vampires and slay Zombies.. how will this ever top that.. Kidding of course, it looks like a good movie.

I have never met a single person who calls him "Ape Lincoln" and I lived in the South most of my life. I'm not saying it couldn't happen but for it to be the first thing you bring up paints a picture with the broad brush of hyperbole.

In fact, most of the Southern people I have known in the last, oh, let's say 30 years, feel pretty much the same way about Lincoln that people in most places do. Black folks revere him, scholars are fascinated by him, bigots kind of blame him but bigots aren't that interested in him really--they're busy hating Obama. Most people believe he's one of the most important presidents and don't know a whole lot except the elementary school version, stovepipe hat, beard, fourscore and seven, etc.

This looks like tour de force acting and a stunningly compelling story, and I can't wait to see it. Gee, I hope I ain't dissapointed. Do you think I'll be able to understand all those big words?

....mostly due to the new generation doing all it can to ditch the older one.

There are still remnants though.

Hell,...for that matter, there are still snake handlers in the North Georgia mountains.

I unfortunately have met several young neo-confederates who would have been very happy if the south won the civil war. Luckily most of the younger generation is starting to ditch that mentality.

I had ancestors who fought on the southern side during the Civil War and yet I still can not fathom kids, most of whom have no knowledge of Civil War History, wearing shirts that say "The South will Rise again." Yea, cause that worked so well for the south last time.

Who wants to bet Bill O'Reilly will watch this and tell us how Hollywood got it wrong. For those who don't know, O'Reilly considers himself an expert on all things Lincoln. FYI, his book has been pulled for inaccuracies.

Not to worry. Bill will tell you WHAT REALLY HAPPENED! (LOL)

Back on topic, this film looks brilliant. The cast. Williams awesome score. The cinematography and Daniel Day Lewis looks incredible.Can.Not.Wait.To See.This!!!

Really good book but drew heavily on PBS series which I thought was even more informative. Or at least its where I heard some of this stuff first. I highly recommend it.

...the trailer sealed the deal.

Now I know a trailer can be highly misleading (Some of them far outstrip the movies they promote), but jeez, I don't see how I can miss this one.

It does look as though they took a great deal of care on the period details, and of course since we're talking Daniel Day-Lewis, surely the actor made careful preparation on everything, including rendering Lincoln's voice.
