Our side has not been very smart about the media. We recognize it has a conservative bent and leave it at that. We don't fight it or challenge it. We ignore it. That is why so many people believe the myths, scratch that, the lies that the republican party is the party of God, family values, personal responsibility, fiscal conservatism, and small government, when they are none of those things.

This.

I mean, odds are Democrats must have some kind of PR department that focuses in on when and how and what we produce to project our message. I'm sure it all goes through the proper channels.

But either it needs way more attention, money, or a whole new staff change, or all three. It seems Democrats are consistently on the defensive, when reality dictates that we could and should be on the perpetual offence.

Its criminal that after not years, decades upon decades, those myths you mentioned have endured. Like frogs in a slowly heated pot of water, that "general consensus" is accepted as reality. Not once (or enough obviously) do we call them out for the fraudulent representation they claim to have cornered.

I'm baffled that the myth, or lie, that Republicans are better at "fiscal conservatism" persists after decades of racking up the debt on wars and bigger and bigger tax cuts to the wealthy. When twice in a row now, a Democrat has come into office having to deal with a recession caused by a Republican administration, and gets the country running again, only to be defeated by the "fiscal conservative" Republicans again, who lavish themselves again with greater tax cuts, screw the economy!
