but from I understand, you don't grow up poor in Detroit with aspirations of fame and a deep love of music and not end up as a social liberal with an understanding of the SOUL of the least among us, and the drive for a better life for your kids. If he is a republican, it's because he always was taught that Democrats are a different breed of Patriot (and the fact that Jenna Jameson was right when she said "If you are rich, your probably voting Republican".). But I think for many of them, the death of OBL by Pres. Obama is teaching them to think differently.

I'm probably wrong, but that's just my sense of what's happening with a lot of people who were "taught" to be Republicans, and are now being presented with a slightly different reality.

If anyone has more to add, I welcome alternative/additional theories=)

I can relate to that. More of a populist than a standard Repub in today's climate, I guess. The second video is a post 9/11 event in NY, understandable in many contexts.
