I was 14 years old when they took him from us.

(71,611 posts)LBJ's legislative influence could have given JFK a success with Medicare, but he was 100% opposed to making JFK a 'hero' in that respect. The key legislation, called "King-Anderson," suffered a 'death of a thousand cuts.'
That speech was given on May 20, 1962 at Madison Square Garden.
It turns out that one of the greatest influences in the ultimate enactment of Medicare, was JFK's assassination.
One of the (many) highlights of my life was being a sideboy for JFK in 1962 ... just a few minutes, but as vivid in my memory as if it happened last week.

I was just a young kid in those days - what happen to JFK still brings a tear to my eye...
