I had a "friend" on facebook post a "Go Mitt 2012!" status update.

My response was "I applaud this. I'm glad to see the GOP finally nominating someone who has gone on record as being pro choice, pro-universal health coverage with a mandate, and who believes global warming is real and caused my man. This is true progress!!"

I haven't checked but I'm pretty sure I was de-friended.

"I'm glad to see the GOP finally nominating someone who has gone on record as being in favor of gun control and who has said, 'We must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern.'"

If you're challenged on these or any of the assertions in your original post, you'll find ample detail with supporting citations to the MSM here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Mitt_Romney

"I've been worried about getting a pink slip." "I'm out of a job."

Also, his refusal to release his tax returns. We'll make a MAJOR issue about that.

His flip flopping could work to his advantage in a couple of ways.

Moderate Republicans and Independents who may have liked the 'Old' Mitt may have the mindset "well, I think he really does believe in his heart the way I do and is just doing what he needs to do to get elected. Once elected, he will be more like me".
Far right Republicans who like the 'New' Mitt may have the mindset "He has seen the light and now is more like me".

I would not put much stock in ads like this when it comes to Republicans. "Flip Flopping" does not seem to be high on their priority list for reasons not to vote for someone.

IMO, I think it would be better to take him at his word NOW and target those moderates and independents towards the social issues.

But it could raise suspcions as to the sincerity of his conservative credentials. That's why the entire primary has been spent trying to find an "anyone but Mitt" candidate.

Of course in the end it doesn't matter because Republicans will only be voting against Obama and not FOR anyone. Just like a lot of us will be voting against the Republican and not necessarily FOR Obama. Tribalism wins out in the end.

with you so much, it is scary.
Just talked with a repub friend and he just verified what I said about the 'old' Mitt...he doesn't really see him as being so socially conservative as he is putting forth...it is the "he is just saying what he is saying because he wants to get elected...he really thinks like me (ie, financially conservative, socially liberal). These are conservatives that are for gay and women's rights but financially lean conservative.
