2. I detest Flake, but his explanation makes sense...

I work for a phone company and people change numbers often - I can see numbers not getting updated in databases and calls going out to the wrong people. If it was some random robocaller, I'd believe foul play - but as much as I think Flake is slime, I can't see him doing something deliberate that is so easily traceable.

WA State Democrats and King County Democrats mount solid rapid response to potential ballot theft

Washington State Democrats Chair Pelz Calls on Secretary of State Sam Reed to Denounce GOP Ballot Collection Tactics

The Washington State Republican Party and the campaign of Rob McKenna have recently been recruiting unknown paid canvassers to go door-to-door collecting ballots, leaving their delivery in the hands of partisan political operatives.

http://sync.democraticunderground.com/1251213225

There are no mistakes being made here, it was unnecessary for Flake's money to go to make those calls, just as sending around vans to take Democratic voter ballots (they know how they were registered from the records) when all it has ever taken was one or two stamps to mail them. For years.

This is blatant fraud that iFlake is paying for, along with McKenna. They should be brought up on charges, but won't be if they pull this off. They'll get their crooked pals to let them off the hook. If they fail to win illegitmately, the voters need to punish these guys. This should be a jailable offense.

Every last candidate who is trying to do this and give wrong information and steal ballots, every one who is hired by them to do it, should do time in prison. Since obviously nothing else in their lives taught them anything.

They can identify the Republicans that they were calling at those numbers.

Until some Republicans speak up about getting false information, I will have to believe the calls were targeted.

Nowiki's conservative, but he's a pretty fair-minded reporter.
The calls weren't giving Republicans false information - they were giving what was assumed to be correct information to Republicans based on party data - but some peoples' numbers were changed. Only seven people are confirmed to have received the calls, out of 120K.

This is directly traceable back to Flake and it's a big fucking deal if it is deliberate - and it's being investigated. But the explanation makes sense and I really don't think they'd be that clumsy - especially since the Republican machine owns Maricopa county and most of AZ right now.

Still responsible in my book. No disrespect, so we'll have to disagree on the quality of Flake's character and what he would or would not do. As far as an investigation, I doubt the 'Republican machine' there can be trusted.

If it was Sheriff Joe investigating it'd be a whole 'nother story... And it's not really a question of character, more that I don't think he's as stupid as to do a robocall himself that was providing false information. Pay for an anonymous call center to place random robocalls with the false information? Absolutely, that's straight out of the Republican playbook, but this was a "Hi, I'm Jeff Flake calling to remind you..." call. As much as I loathe them, I can't believe they're that stupid. Unless they're Palin. Who does live down here now, come to think about it...

He was the former state AG, with a reputation, earned or not, as competent and moderate. He went Tea and showed he was an ultraconservative with no scruples.

Flake's not dumb, but plays with the same crowd. I don't know anyone gives these guys some kind of pass, that they're worried about getting caught. They aren't. They bluff and pay off their pals.

You think it'll be different with the FBI and DOJ? They couldn't bring down Sheriff Joe, either, remember?

Stupid? Inept? Never. Bold and blatant, you betcha. Because there are millions and millions of dollars at stake and they are feeding at the trough of billionaires and they'll do anything to keep it up. Their motivation is not any voter's approval after the sale.

The GOP aren't about serving the public. Anyone who needs a thing from the government is a 'parasite' in their eyes. No, they serve their masters, and don't give a damn what the public thinks or the law is.

What you would not do as a worker held accountable is a lot different. There is only one way to punish them. Vote 'em out.

IOW, I have as much respect for these bastids as they do for me, the people and things I care about. None.

16. I'm saying that the evidence as presented doesn't represent deliberate fraud.
Tue Nov 6, 2012, 04:19 PM
Nov 2012

It represents shoddy bookkeeping and mistakes. I don't live in Washington, so I'm not familiar with the corruption going on there, although I do remember news in 2002 or 2004 about the election hinging on a bunch of Democratic ballots found in the trunk of someone's car or something.

I'm saying that 7 Democrats were given the wrong information. The Flake campaign explained why and provided proof as to why it happened. The authorities are investigating it.

That's not fraud, that's a mistake. And crying wolf over it will only make people more skeptical of actual claims of fraud when they happen.
