Obama is less of a socialist than Reagan. Taxes were higher when Reagan left office than they are now. Obama has reduced the increase in government spending compared to Bush. He has a plan to reduce spending further. There is no evidence that Obama it a socialist intent on destroying America. Ensuring everyone has healthcare is what every single developed nation in the world does. Every single position held by Republicans is rooted in racism and is a reaction to a black president. The Republicans have moved to the right on every issue to appease the racial element.

If Obama had been white, he wouldn't have been the focus of the Republican/Fox News/Limbaugh/Tea Party hate campaign, built on a tissue of lies. He would have achieved more in his first term, as he would not have faced the same obstructionism. He would have won by an even bigger margin, because Romney was bolstered by millions of racists and haters.

That is why they had a slate of terrible candidates to choose from. They didn't think they needed a quality candidate with wide appeal and good ideas. All they wanted was an anti-Obama campaign, a referendum on the president and no coherent policies of their own.

Romney got 47%, but how much of that was from disgruntlement of a struggling economy, misinformation about Obama and the racial element? They relied on that hatred and anger, but that was not good enough to win the election.
