Girl Speaks Out on Sexual Assault, Defies Judge

"Remember 17-year-old Savannah Dietrich? She's the teenager who publicly called out the boys who groped her chest and stuck their fingers in her vagina while she was unconscious — and photographed the sexual assault because they wanted to remember that precious moment in history forever/brag about it to all their dickhead friends — even though a judge ordered her not to tell anyone what happened."*

Teenage sexual assault victim Savannah Dietrich spoke out about her assailants, breaking a judge's gag order. In response, attorneys for the teenage boys who assaulted her initially tried to fight back, but when Dietrich's story got more attention, they backpedaled. Did she get the justice she wanted by speaking out? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break down the story.

I couldn't agree more with her decision and I'm delighted that the defense attorneys retreated when public attention seemed to side with her.

We need all people to stand up to the misogynistic judges who are members of the good-ol-boys club.

Teen males need to learn that being passed out is not permission to rape or assault someone. And the judges and prosecutors are teaching the opposite.

life and reputation have been sullied by assholes who took advantage and indecent license with her. Her youthful indiscretion did not give them this liberty. PUT THEIR PHOTOS UP AND YOU GO GIRL!

young lady.

The judge and defense lawyers are dickheads.

The attackers should be brought to justice and identified and their identities shown on tv and in newspapers.

may have been the key "dickhead" involved, and the one who should probably be looked at for at least some ethical issues. If he had connections to the boys he was prosecuting, as stated in the clip. The defense lawyers were presumably just doing their jobs. That's the basis of our system, you get a lawyer to put on a fair defense no matter how apparently guilty you are. Don't know about the judge, but if the defense and the prosecutor had worked out a deal, he may have just accepted it without knowing all the facts.
