Peter Beinart: The fate of Israeli Jews and Palestinians are 'intertwined' - Inside w/Jen Psaki

Jewish Currents Editor-At-Large Peter Beinart joins Jen Psaki to discuss his latest New York Times piece "There Is a Jewish Hope for Palestinian Liberation. It Must Survive." Beinart says Jews and Palestinians "need to come together around the simple principle that human life, Jewish and Palestinian life, is infinitely precious and that our fates are mutually intertwined." - Aired on 10/14/2023.

that Hamas is bad for both of them.

Israel could, with international help, work on rebuilding Palestine after the war, and help them to establish their own democratic government without interference from terrorist groups.

Israel's best defense is in a stable, strong Democratic government for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Israelis and Palestinians need to become allies against terrorists and work together instead of against each other.

But this has been a point of contention for decades, Jimmy Carter tried, Bill Clinton tried. Maybe Joe Biden, with his vast experience and compassion, can suggest this and be taken seriously. We know he's in constant touch with Netanyahu.

ALL of the former British Mandate in Palestine. Both sides must settle for splitting the land between them.

But the fear and chaos it's generated has served to further divide them.

having any historical context is not helping. By taking sides, they perpetuate and stir up the hostility on both sides, as if they are cheering for sports teams.

I have posted a lot on DU about it, but mostly on the history to give a context and to challenge some misinformation.

Which have been as tough as primary season here. I just feel terrible for all the civilians, especially children, in such danger.
