Almost Twice As Many Preschoolers Are Killed By Guns As Are Cops - graph

According to the Children’s Defense Fund, nearly twice as many preschoolers were killed by guns in 2008-2009 as there were law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty:

if we do not know how many pre-schoolers there are in the nation versus how many cops.

The number that would be informative is deaths per 100,000.

If there are 1 million policemen then their death rate would be 0.89 per 100,000

If there are 10 million preschoolers then their death rate would be 0.173, or about one quarter that of a policeman.

This number still might be too high but without more data the graph is useless.

Does anyone have a reliable count on these two groups?
