homologous chromosomes/DNA. Birth control pills control the HORMONES so that no haploid egg is ready when the uterus is ready to be impregnated.

Upon fertilization in the Fallopian tube, the egg becomes diploid having the Father's homologous chromosomes. The egg becomes an embryo when it divides in to two daughter cells. The doctors will explain the impregnation of the uterus, as I read in reply #2.
