How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you don't see the beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you'll see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

It's wonderful and worthy to help people in third world countries get clean water.
But the video wrongly ridicules the concerns of people in the "first world" as trivial. In fact, we have many more serious problems here than routers and cell phones.
We share many of the same concerns that people worry about in the third world -- the safety of our food supply, droughts, hunger among the poor.
People all over the world have trivial as well as important concerns.
I see older people wandering our streets looking in trash cans for food and recyclables, carrying all their belongings with them. In the evening, if you walk down an alley late at night, you see them seeking a safe, warm place to hide and try to sleep during what is left of the night.
Let's not just take out the specks in the eyes of others but also take out the beams in our own eyes.
And if we don't find a way to bring back paying jobs to America, we will need to help our own people get clean water.

(1,939 posts)proposition. I believe strongly in the fight for jobs in America. Unfortunately, there are those who don't. One feeds into another and I think of how willing we are to kill people in the third world and call them collateral damage. It all ties together.

(57,936 posts)beating them up, we neglect the environment, and we allow our economy to be wrecked so that we have no money to help ourselves much less them.

(1,939 posts)I agree with the things you say. My blog is really dedicated to it. Please feel to explore it. It is where the video was posted to. But the same people who think nothing at launching drones at unknown others also think nothing of sending your job overseas. And unfortunately one thing you said I totally agree with the people who feel this way are unlikely to be reading democratic underground.
