... were expecting a 'Marco Rubio' skit to be the 'opening' skit - it is disappointing that is was not.

Remember that SNL's big demographic is 14 to 24 year old males, and of those only regular Daily Show watchers would have had a clue about who Rubio is. There was a very good reason why Seth Myers spent time explaining who Rubio was and that he had lurched away to the side, while maintaining eye contact, to grab a small bottle of water during his SOTU response. Rubio is still a nobody outside of Florida and political junkie circles.
