Trout fishing in the fall,A captain Ahab moment

My layoff ends Monday going back to work same union different local. These last five weeks have been awesome time spent with our sons their twelve and thirteen . In the evenings we have been able to hit the YMCA at least three nights a week. Cardio then to the pool for laps and that usually ends up being a let's get em dunking contest. So yesterday after school the guys get home and it is nice out hey let's go hit a trout stream fellas. So we're off we already have the waders and ultra lite rods in the car. We stop and bought minnows and worms.

Now the stream we went to borders a state park. Very rural and mountains beautiful place to spend few hours. We always fish up stream. The state stocks the stream and the lake that is headwaters of the stream. Well yesterday our twelve year old was using a rooster tail spinner by this old quarry bridge. And he hooked I'm thinking a brown trout just in the flash perhaps my imagination I thought I could see. In that it was a brown trout and he said it looked a brown trout. It was huge but he lost it as it spit the lure out. And he tried a few more times in that hole to see if it would take it but no luck. So today we're heading back to that spot.

Spinners have caught me many trout in the past.

Nothing better than a trout dinner at a campsite.

Good luck guys!

Cheers!

I would often come home from school and find an animal pelt on the kitchen table. She used different materials for different flies matching certain seasons. She caught them, cleaned them and cooked them. We often had freshly caught trout for breakfast.
