Technology

When I was young, we had dial phones on a party line.

We had 1 tv station to watch on a black and white tv.

The church didn't have indoor plumbing. We had to use an outhouse in the back.

The car(s) had standard transmissions with 3 on the tree.

We had no outlets in the bedrooms and the single light in each bedroom was a pull chain type hanging from the ceiling.

The kitchen stove was wood. In the summer, cooking was done in a separate building we still call today "The summer kitchen".

In winter, you could see your breath while you lay in bed on cold days. There was frost on the top blanket sometimes when you awoke in the morning.

We bathed in the sauna as there wasn't a shower or bathtub in the house until I was older.

I don't miss the good old days one bit.

2. Yup, what you said. We had a hand pump in the kitchen for our water

an outhouse that was scary to use at night so we had a pot with a lid for nighttime, no bathroom in the house.
We eventually had 2 t.v. stations when I was in my teens and no summer kitchen.
A wood stove which gave way to a coal furnace which gave way to oil and hot water heat.

First time the garden was plowed, it was with a horse borrowed from the neighbor.
Had a wind up victrola which finally gave way to an electric record player.
Percolator coffee maker.

Times sure were different!

When I was young, we had a wood stove.
One use and all we had then was a pile of ashes.
