Am I the only one who really strongly dislikes the way CNN does BREAKING???

I don't watch CNN very often, but my god, EVERYTHING IS FREAKING BREAKING NEWS, DROP EVERYTHING, CALL YOUR MOTHER, CALL THE NEIGHBORS etc.

They abuse that term to the point of utter ridiculousness. It could be freaking hours since it "broke" and they STILL say breaking.

You too?

they should start labeling it "Developing Story", not "Breaking News" 10 hours into the event.

It completely devalues when there is a truly important story. I'm old and when I was young (Cold War Era) if there was a "Breaking News" banner or program interruption the audience immediately knew something truly momentous and bigtime had happened or was about to happen. I mean big like JFK's assassination, the 9/11 attacks, or impending atomic war somewhere.

I know that everything at Fox is a "News Alert"....everything....This goes back to early 2000s, when I would take my daughter to the dental school where she had her orthodontics. They showed Fox in the waiting room and I was like, WTF?

Every time there was a "Fox News Alert" everyone would stare at the screen as if there was some awful disaster, which was every 5 minutes.

In the past several years, CNN has gotten into this and it is stupid.
