my grumble for the day: banking transfers

I have my credit card and checking account at the SAME credit union. You click a few times and voila, you pay your credit card bill. Extremely convenient. The only thing is, the payment does not show up for around 48 hours. Huh?

This has annoyed me for decades, but it's standard procedure it seems. You get annoyed too ?

Otherwise, life is fairly grand. My arm is healing up and my prostate is "happy"

Hope your day is grand also, my friends

i can pay my citibank credit card bill online (drawing from a bofa checking account) and it instantly reduces my balance owed and increases my credit available at citibank.

but my same-bank transfers at bofa for my bofa credit card takes two days.

for the interest free use of your money.

If you're old enough you might remember Lilly Tomlin's act as Ernestine the telephone operator (if you're under 40 you might have to google "telephone operator&quot . Her tag line, which could be easily amended to apply to Bank of America, was, "We don't care, we don't have to, we're the phone company."

4. The Credit Union is a middleman for the credit card no matter what the card says.

They have a deal with a company who issues and processes credit cards. That is why there is a delay in the credit.

5. Your credit union does not have a credit card. They work with a credit card company.

They are sending the payment info to another company. Should happen almost instantaneously, but the no one would be able to siphon 2 days of interest off your money. The "Float" is the interest that companies make while your money is "in transit". Totally ridiculous concept since the transfer occurs electronically, but your credit union can stop crediting your account the second you make the transfer, but have the use of your money until it's transferred, where the credit card company can continue not crediting your account until they process the transfer.
