(21,674 posts)Except that unlike the dog, we can't do anything about it - until the next presidential election anyway.

(16,104 posts)A big dog's brain is just as big as theirs, and scientists measure a species comparable intellectual capacity by brain size.
"Big dog brain big" is about all they get.
And then this kind of thing happens.

(1,547 posts)Neurons in the cerebral cortex..
Elephants have way bigger brains than humans ..but they only have half the number of cerebral cortex neurons.
Dogs have about 500 million nuerons and humans have 16 billion !!

(53,410 posts)I'm no slouch mental wise and neither was my mother, but we sometimes spelled words out because the poodle understood everything we said.
I would name her toys and tell her to go get a toy by name and she would. Every time.
It took me a long time to realize she was deaf because she always knew what I was saying. Evidently pets read us like books and have every mannerism, eye twitch and gesture memorized.

(18,650 posts)After watching Trump today doing his bloviating impression of a talking goldfish, I could use the chuckle.
Watching him today with that pursed mouth, that unnatural skin tone, and his head slowly weaving back & forth, all I could think of was a koi looking for fish food. It was perhaps fitting that there was a Flake right next to him.

(51,636 posts)She does that when I try to get her to do something that is OK for a minute or two, after that she let's you know that she has had enough of it and takes charge. She is 7 pounds but 14 1/2 years old so she knows her tolerance and her limitations at this point.
