Just watched "Shawshank Redemption" all the way through for the first time.

Have to add it to my favorite movies list along with:

Godfather l
Godfather ll
Pulp Fiction
Casablanca
Maltese Falcon
Good Fellas
Fences
Hidden Figures
Chinatown

That's enough for now. Anyone have any to add?

another Stephen King prison story, perhaps a little more inclined toward the supernatural, but still a great yarn with a satisfying conclusion.

All three have the same director: Frank Darabont. That guy has the Stephen King vibe figured out.

I resisted seeing that movie for so long. Just didn't sound interesting to me. But some friends pressured me into watching it, and it was awesome. It is a great companion piece to Shawshank.

GREAT cast, including Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Sam Fuckin Rockwell. How much more do you need to know? Stream it today!

He is one of those actors that makes ANY movie at least watchable just by virtue of the fact that he's in it.

And not just because of my username.

It's almost strange to see so many stars in that movie, way back in the early 80's.

Especially Jeff Goldblum. Who hasn't changed one bit, it seems. Which is a good thing.

I loved it, still do in fact, and have never gotten over the fact that it got beaten out by a lesser movie that got Best Picture that year. Forrest Gump! Tom Hanks was in that one. I think!

Anyway, enjoy watching Shawshank over and over! It's based on a novella by Stephen King called "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption." Well worth reading. The adaptation from the novella was perfect.

For those that don’t know, “Stand By Me” and “Shawshank Redemption” are based on short stories from the same book by King called “Different Seasons.”
