There are plenty on my list, but for starters:

(12,586 posts)When Meg Ryan's character (the third one) says to Joe, "I'm soul sick."
Another line which proved prescient in my own life: "Did you sleep with my sister?"

(5,914 posts)So much to love about it. But it IS quirky. It's one of those movies like Repo Man or Napoleon Dynamite where you either "get it" or you don't, and there's no shame in being in either category.

(9,730 posts)The only flaw I found was in the casting of Duke Leto. Why on earth would he have an accent when nobody else did? But that's easily overlooked.

(25,364 posts)From the review:
Rudy Ray Moore is back in another Cliff Roquemore scripted blaxploit flick...this time as an ex-cop martial arts expert disco deejay! "Disco Godfather" is a crazy combination of "Reefer Madness" and "Saturday Night Fever", with some laughable "Dolemite" style fake kung-fu action scenes thrown in just for good measure. I'm happy to report the resulting movie is just as ridiculous as it sounds. Fans of cheesy 70's blaxsploitation, disco-themed movies, and of Rudy Ray Moore's wacky one-liners and utterly outlandish wardrobe will definitely not be disappointed

(25,861 posts)but within the science fiction community it was not well received. However, in my humble opinion, it is the most science-fictional movie ever. Absolutely true to the genre, completely true to its internal logic.
I have not watched the TV series and don't plan to.

(12,586 posts)A very hot (and young) Diane Lane, Willem Dafoe, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, Bill Paxton, Kathy Griffin, the Sorels, Marine Jahan (in "Flashdance" she did Jennifer Beals' dancing), a driving music score and lots of things blowing up. What's not to love?

(40,416 posts)Not sure if this makes the list of movies that people hate, but I love this low budget, end of the world flick. It is a bit campy and ridiculous -- especially the search for a helicopter pilot -- while everything descends into utter chaos. Here, low budget works. Plus, it has a really great Tangerine Dream sound track.
Oopsie! Link now corrected.
The only low point is Mare Winningham's mullet hairstyle.
Highly recommended.
Former Shirley Temple spouse and prolific B film actor, John Agar, has a role in this film.

(22,670 posts)Other than Gethin Anthony (William), there are no big names in this independent movie. I just love the story and how the two main characters interact. Frederikke Dahl Hansen is one of the best unknown acting talents going to waste that I can think of.
