A lot of people have had and do have it much worse. Still, it's hard. If it wasn't for work--work makes me happy--and kids and pets there are days I would not get out of bed. Totally understand.

At my mom's place in the Finger Lakes in NY, we feed the ducks Cheerios. Next time we're there, we can try peas.
