let me tell you, that is definitely NOT the one you want.

They are amazing escape artists. Can't tell you how many nights mine spent at the local pound because they got out and ran and ran and ran and we couldn't find them. Push doors open ,climb 6 foot walls, wait for someone to barely open the gate and zoom, off they went.

As they got older they slowed down a little and when they got out (human error) they just ran and ran to the local Petco. They'd then call me from Petco to come get them.

I miss them so much.

They do break our hearts, don't they? Sadly, I'll never have a husky anyway because they're just too big. My next doggo has to be smaller than my 50-pound Catahoula soulmate. I cherish every day with her. Wish they could find a way to extend the lives of dogs. I'd pay anything.

I have mixed feelings about that because losing them was so painful after 13-15 years that I can't imagine what it would be like if they lived to be 25! Double the pain?

And yes, they do break our hearts.

with rocks, logs and barbwire. It mostly just slowed him down a bit. It wasn't until he tore his second ACL that he stopped digging out. He almost always found his own way home at dinner time. He never quite got over that fear of not getting his next meal after his first family didn't feed him.

My personal favorite was the time he had Lyme disease, and he had peed himself (he was semi-catatonic) and I put him outside while I went to clean the pee. In that 2 minutes, he mustered enough to wander off and got picked up by a cop, peed in the cop's car and taken to the shelter where I had to go explain why my dog who was out of it, missing large chunks of fur (he had a weird health thing at the same time that caused clumps of hair to fall out) and didn't have a collar, was actually really well cared for. Fortunately he was plump and wagged his tail at the sight of me.

He was always so happy and so cute, that pretty much no matter what he did, he got out of trouble. Whether it was stealing the other dogs' food or getting into the compost heap, or even the time he found a grouse and decided that looked like a lovely snack, in spite of the grouse's protests.

...suspect an inside job. Cell-mates now being interrogated.

Police are sweeping the neighbourhood, certain that "Echo" is cuddled-up somewhere in the immediate area with outside accomplices.

I can tell sometimes she wants to take off after a bunny and then she looks back at me and thinks better of it. She can't stand it when I'm not in her sight. Another advantage of a deaf dog.

He was a little bitty 5 pound chihuahua. After two days the little devil learned to climb over the gate. After that it was in the bed with me. He is now 11 pounds, but still not big enough to jump up or down from the bed. I make the bed around him in the morning. When I pull the sheepskin blanket off the bed, he knows it is time to get up. He waits until I finish with the bed, then off we go outside to do his business.

This morning it was so foggy the flashlight showed the light beam like you see in movies. Eerie. 👻

I've never interacted with a dog all day long but with this guy it's a given.
