And....quite a few who, when called to set an interview date, would start negotiating the date, thinking out loud, so I had to listen to the reasons that were "more important than a job interview".

First, and this critical. Verify that the applicant is NOT Stephen Miller or anyone else working in the White House.
If NOT, have HR forward to Trump USA HQ and the next time I see Donny "the chin", I'll claim a U-owe-me-1 for this favor.
