...including a felony conviction.
We print papers seven days a week so my job has two people doing it: me Saturday to Tuesday, and another person Wednesday thru Friday. (We have other work for her to bring her up to 40 hours, so its good.) Last night she needed off, so I went in to work.
All our papers have gift ideas sections. In one of them, two ads stood out.
The first was for a marijuana store in Ephrata, WA. Not only do they have $5 grams and $90 happy ounces (yes, you would be happy to get a whole ounce of quality weed in your stocking) but theyll be open on Christmas Day just in case.
Then was the law office whose Xmas special is $200 off the flat fee for restoration of your gun rights. (The ad with all the guns in it gets inserted.)
All I want for Christmas is my gun rights back never really occurred to me...

(23,340 posts)Dishonorable discharge (which is a "sort of" felony)
Restraining orders.
Being ever found legally mentally defective or been committed to a mental institution.
Probably others.
The "committed to a mental institution" thing is troublesome. As if nobody "gets better".
The $200 coupon is a cheap stocking stuffer. Better to give a receipt showing you paid the lawyer's flat fee for the giftee, along with a nice ankle holster wrapped in a bow.
Edit to add: This is probably not a Lounge topic. Now, if you want to discuss what brand of scotch to put in that stocking ...

(16,168 posts)Alaska state rights superceded federal regulations(non violent offense) and I was allowed to possess firearms. Then they changed the law and retroacively took away that right.
Ain"t nothing like standing next to a counter and having the salesperson tell you "no".

(50,557 posts)The two worst discharges, the Bad Conduct and Dishonorable, are only issued as part of a court-martial sentence. A Dishonorable can only be issued by a general court-martial, and you REALLY have to work at it to commit a crime bad enough for them to go to the trouble of convening a general court-martial. The Special Court-Martial can give you up to a year in jail, forfeiture of pay for a year and a bad conduct discharge. Since a BCD will ruin your life about as well as a DD, unless you killed someone, raped someone, committed blackmarketing in Korea or you're an officer they want to cashier, they'll prefer a special court-martial instead.
I knew of a troop in the engineers when I was at Fort Drum who received a special court-martial and all he did was intentionally run over his lieutenant with a Humvee. The guy lived and didn't get hurt too bad, but you still can't do things like that.
