(1,967 posts)The first time I saw Animal House I said it was a documentary about my time in college in the mid 1960s. I knew every character in the movie except for the horse.

(16,786 posts)And St. Attila raised the hand grenade up on high , saying "Oh Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that which it thou mayest blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy."
And the Lord did grin.
And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and fruits bats, and breakfast cereals.....
And the Lord spake, saying "First, thou shalt take out the Holy Pin. Then though shalt count to three, no more, no less.
Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number shall be three.
Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting thou shalt proceed to three.
Five is right out.
Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch toward thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snffit."

(27,817 posts)I especially love their first film, "The Cocoanuts"
Duck Soup was also great.
(You only get 10 "options" when doing a DU poll)
I would also have liked to put "Take the Money and Run" up there as well as "Spinal Tap", and the aforementioned "Some Like It Hot" & "The Odd Couple"

(27,817 posts)including Borat chasing his producer out of their hotel room in the nude, get into the elevator, and when they reach the lobby, the chase continues, and they run into a large room full of realtors.
But probably the funniest scene was when Borat calls the black hooker to join him for dinner at the segregationists' house.

(11,098 posts)I was in high school when Blazing Saddles was released. I remember sitting in a small town theater with a couple of friends. Governor Lepetomane was saying something - no one remembers what - while fondling a statue. My friends and I were rolling. Everyone else in the theater were listening carefully to the dialog and trying to figure out what was so funny.
When we figured out that we were the only ones laughing and that everyone else was confused, we collapsed in laughter. Great night for a too smug teenager.

(27,817 posts)I wanted my money back.
Then I watched it again and sort of liked it.
Then I watched it a 3rd time and began to love it.
I've now probably seen it at least 15 times.
My favorite scene is when Franco & Rogan are in the woods at night, hear a noise, and start running, with Rogan falling down twice & finally crashing into a tree.
(Flawed, uneven movie, but still very funny)
TexasBushwhacker
(20,196 posts)But redeemed itself with some parts that were just hilarious. Now the director, David Gordon Green, made "Your Highness" a couple of years later and it was just awful.
