Morons. Security camera picked it up. Not sure where they were planning to hide that nearly lifesize reindeer in their open jeep, but the cam picked up their failed heist attempt.
At around 11:44 pm on Christmas Eve, a jeep turns around in the street for a safe getaway, someone hops off and across the lawn, grinchlike. He grabs one of the reindeers and pulls it until it comes off its electrical cord, and the reindeer goes dark. Two or three seconds later, the would be thief gives up. The owner must have been smart enough to anchor the reindeer.
The white male gets back to the jeep and they casually leave. No hurries.
I imagine if they had been caught, they would have gotten off because it wasn't a real theft-attempt, but a prank.

(46,758 posts)As you can imagine, Christmas Day was very busy and I didn't have a chance to look closely at the security camera recordings. From my perspective, the little I had seen through a quick scan of motion detector clips led me to believe there was a theft taking place. But, I had a chance to see what happened the next morning when everything came to light.
Apparently, the young men in the jeep were going for the prank. They took the male reindeer and propped it behind the female reindeer so it looked like they were caught in the act of copulation.
Needed to update the information, you know, to be fair.
