Gonna be a solid two weeks before the temp tops freezing and we have an eight day stretch starting tomorrow when nighttime temps are below zero-and I mean a REAL zero, not come wimpy centigrade zero like them European sissies have...

One of the reasons I love living here is that ALL humans, cats and pups are kept warm. Somehow, we manage.

Happy Christmas, rogerballard - watch that wind. Sending warm thoughts your way!

Our third snowstorm in two weeks and the temperatures are dropping. I'm so sick of winter - and I worry about any animals out there, too. I found my cat Felix as a kitten in a grocery store parking lot. Fortunately, it was in August.

No rain in October.
No rain in November.
No rain in December.

Keep warm fellow DU'rs!

Which included wind damage, power outages and flooding. This is just the winter version. I wish we could ship all the moisture to areas that really need it.

6. Wow. For us it's because the jet stream is dipping up and pulling in high pressure from the south.

That's probably the same reason you are getting so much crazy wet and cold weather.
That's what I've read, anyway.
So hopefully it's not a climate change issue...I'm pretty sure it is, though. I don't recall this many back-to-back severe droughts when I was growing up.

8. I agree, I don't recall such severe weather when I was growing up, either

And aside from school years in Massachusetts, I've lived in Northeastern New York all my life. I don't remember it being this bad even a few years ago. The wind has also been much worse, there has been damage all over. One afternoon on my way home I had a surreal experience. At one intersection I pass through all the time, the wind was so strong that the stop sign was actually spinning around!

Now that I think about it, I recall the extreme weather on the east coast being caused by something coming from the north of you.
But I agree, this is nuts!
Keep safe and warm—and avoid spinning stop signs.

And I wish we could send you all our snowbanks that would melt down in warmer temperatures. It doesn't take long here for them to get so high that it's impossible to attempt left turns...
