(9,426 posts)How could anyone NOT love animals? My Rottweiler used to like having shovels full of snow thrown at her as she raced by. All our dogs loved the snow.

(10,831 posts)lived up to her breed name, Bernese Mountain dog, and reacted to the snow in much the same way. We were in NJ up until she was 4 with a golf course behind the house. When it snowed liked this, we'd take her out on the grounds and remove her leash. Then watch her hop like a jackrabbit over the drifts and run like a maniac down the course.
Loved, loved the snow.
My second Berner? Not so much. She was born in Lexington, raised in Knoxville and acted as if the snow was a secret plot to knock her off her feet. Tried walking over the snow on her tippy toes. Painful to watch.
This vid proves one thing though--dogs are just furry kids.

(9,527 posts)A few years later we moved to Colorado in December. We get to the new place, we had been driving for hours and just wanted to collapse. We open the car door and he goes bonkers at the first sight of snow. We could hardly get him to come inside.
We then moved up into the mountains and we'd have snow on the ground from October to the last patches fading in May. He would sit on the last patches trying to save them.
The husky and malamute would play out there as long as we'd let them.
