Snatched by eagle, dog amazingly survives, like something from Wizard of Oz

http://www.centralmaine.com/2018/01/04/snatched-by-eagle-dog-lives-to-bark-the-tale/

Felipe Rodriguez says he thought he was hallucinating when an eagle snatched his sister’s little dog from her yard, flapped its massive wings and disappeared over the trees.

Did he really just see that?

He had. Zoey the 8-pound bichon frise was gone, taken by a hungry raptor Tuesday not 50 feet from his sister’s house on the banks of the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania, north of Philadelphia. “It seemed like something from the ‘Wizard of Oz,”‘ he said Wednesday. “I’m a city boy. This doesn’t happen in my world.”

Even more astonishing: Zoey survived.

A miracle.
More ammunition for yelling at my daughter for letting their cat outside.

Our cats wondered up to the front door, were eventually coxed inside, and never went out again.

It's a big scary world with lots of dangers for cats. If you love them, keep them inside.

I tried telling her that once a cat gets a taste of the outdoors they’re not content inside but she wouldn’t listen. They try to keep him in but he’s a slippery devil and slips out the door in a flash. He has been happy inside in the recent weather though.

Our cats came from the outside. The last thing they want is back out. They run away when the door is opened.
