(20,214 posts)I agree. He's a great guitarist and easy on the eyes. I read that H & O fired him 2014.

(65,168 posts)I knew his name. I just couldn't get it to pop into my head yesterday. His ability to get the exact right tone for the song is fantastic.
Watch the episode with Train. That glassy sound he uses "Not Wasting My Time" and on "Soul Sister" is terrific. You can hear every string and yet there's power.

(102,357 posts)boy, it seemed like everyone I knew had lost someone in a car wreck and this song was just sooo poignant.
Good choice.

(65,168 posts)We had that for our band name (probably about 4 months) when these guys had the big hit. Obviously, we had to change the name when those guys were top 10 in the country.

(17,635 posts)...produced by Phil Specter of all people. Its sounds sinister but this is what I found to be the history of the song:
" "He Hit Me" is a song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King for girl group the Crystals under the guidance of Phil Spector in 1962. Goffin and King wrote the song after discovering that their babysitter and singer Little Eva was being regularly beaten by her boyfriend. When they inquired why she tolerated such treatment, Eva replied, with complete sincerity, that her boyfriend's actions were motivated by his love."
This tune was featured on one of the Mad Men episodes.

(27,849 posts)Very interesting story...I never knew that.
Little Eva's birth name was Eva Narcissus Boyd.
She never owned the rights to any of her recordings,
including her number # 1 hit The Loco-Motion" (1962 I think)
She only got $50 a week as salary, (which was $15 more than she got for being Goffin & King's nanny)
By 1971, she was penniless, and moved back to North Carolina with her three young children.
After the success of the Kylie Minogue 1988 cover version of The Loco-Motion, she returned to live performing with other artists of her era on the cabaret and oldies circuit.
She continued performing until she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in October, 2001.
She died on April 10, 2003 at age 59.
(Also by The Crystals was the hit song "Da Do Ron Ron"

This is the Jimmie Rodgers born in 1933, not the Jimmie Rodgers who died in 1933.
