Saw some real dedication to a job today.

Wow. We just witnessed some real dedication to work. A pizza delivery person just walked a delivery to a house. I’m presuming their car is still at the front gate as they were jogging on their way back. Looked like Pizza Hut.

Kudos to that worker!

Fwiw, I live in a small gated suburban community (wish it wasn't gated, doesn't serve much use but anyway) and there are constant issues of gate codes and directory phone calls not working. I'm sure that was the case tonight. But it was quite a sight to see!

Along with hotel cleaning ladies, street sweepers, the back room stockers at every grocery store, garbage pick up people, bus drivers, every single behind the scenes person you might imagine, many of whom work for minimum wage, and only a few of whom get tips.

My son was a pizza delivery guy for over a decade. The stories he could tell.

Here's perhaps the most important thing: People who do not work normal 8-5 jobs with weekends and holidays off, all too often do not have a clue what all of those who do shift work, who make sure things are operating around the clock, what those people actually do.

I was an airline ticket agent for ten years, and I like to point out that I got my two weeks vacation each year (well, I only got one week the first year) but I NEVER had an extra day off for a holiday. Never. Not to mention, I put in a lot of overtime when flights were delayed or cancelled or if a coworker called in sick. On the up side, I did get free travel, and I almost always got to fly first class, a perk that is nonexistent for airline employees these days because of the high load factors.

Anyway, if it weren't for the pizza delivery guys and all sorts of people like them, life would hardly be worth living.

Did pizza delivery for a few years during college. Got paid pretty well for driving and listening to the radio a lot of the time. But there was still plenty of dish washing, floor mopping, baseboard scrubbing, etc.
