I need some help from a computer expert...

I have a VCR, plays VHS cassettes, and I'd like to hook it up to my computer, so I can record from VHS to computer.

I use Windows 10.

The hookup is an "Easycap 2.0"

The disk is out of date, can it be used, with my computer, and how?

...but I'll bet it was about 20 years ago.

I don't even know if they have them any more but you can check. Maybe pick one up cheap on Ebay, if you haven't already looked. Most people have already converted everything from VHS to digital quite a while ago, so they don't need their old scanner any more.

The software isn't so difficult to find or use, if you can locate a scanner/digitizer. Good luck!

Sounds like they're saying the included software disc that came w/the device includes a version of the software/drivers needed to operate the device ... that's too old to work on W10.

Then just like any other device, it's just a question of going to manufacturer's website and grabbing a download of a W10 compatible version of the software and installing that instead of the ancient version that's on the disc (actually anything meant to work on vista-onward is likely to work, so a Vista, W7, or W8 app should also work). If they have a 64-bit version use that but 32-bit should still work on a 64-bit machine if they don't have one.

I've hardly ever installed software from a disc unless its just 'required' ... nearly always better to go to the makers website and grab the latest version there if you can.

I just bought one of these and it works great. I have digitized 6 old VHS tapes in two days. It comes with their Win TV v8 software which allows you to record from any analog source like a VCR. $50 on Amazon.
