My hand is calibrated to 0.5 F

When my kids were growing up, I always took their temperature with my hand on their forehead, which is the same way my dad always did it. I was so good at it, my wife would always tell me to bring the "calibrated" hand in to check them. When my daughter got a little older she was always skeptical of my hand's accuracy.

My daughter has the flu A, and is staying with us till she recovers. Last night while she was taking her temperature with the thermometer, I touched her forehead and said, "101". The thermometer read 101.5. This morning the same thing happened and I said "99". The thermometer registered 99.5.

It's also entirely possible the digital thermometer is out of calibration by .5F
