everything looks ok, slightly hypertensive, so I got a script for Losartin.
Blood work is good, doc wants me to lose 20-25 pounds yada yada.
Asks me if I have any questions or concerns, so I ask about perhaps getting some Viagara. Look I'm 55 and maybe I need some help - Don't judge.
Any how, the doc asks how many I think I'd need and I answer "4".
No problem, we normally prescribe 6 a month he tells me.
I look at him stunned, mouth hanging open in surprise and say "A MONTH? I've been married 32 years. I need 4 - Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary and Valentines."

(10,749 posts)I didn't have a physical, but I did have some blood work done. When the nurse called to give me results, my first question was, then why am I still alive?
Not great, but all dealable with.
Getting old really sucks.

It should not be taken with certain heart medications or alpha blockers
If visual disturbances occur it should be stopped immediately
Viagra is has the shortest half-life in that class of drugs, and some insurance companies wont cover it
I believe Medicare wont cover it also
Most people have no problem taking it though
Losartan is a ARB, and also has some renal protection
Hope things go well for you

(6,115 posts)Generic versions of Viagra became available in December for more like $2 a pill. That is a real help for those who have had prostate cancer. Medicare will not cover the cost of any ED drugs, even when medically required.
