I'll go with Billie Piper as "Rose" in the British "Dr. Who" series....

(12,723 posts)Well she is a tomboy or the more correct, tomwoman, and she has been my wife for more than a quarter of a century so logically and if I want another 25 I best be picking her.

(12,132 posts)Tina Say from day care in 3rd grade. She could jump further off the swing set than anyone and after she landed she'd jump up and shout "Tina Say!" And this was decades before Whatshername on SNL. (Superstar!)
On TV, Jo from Facts of Life.
In movies probably Jodie Foster. Don't even remember the movie and I think we are close to the same age but I've had a crush on her since we were about 8. And that's only partly because she reminded me of Tina Say.
I was fond of Pippi Longstockings too.

And from my childhood, Trixie Belden, the mystery book heroine. She was soooo much cooler than Nancy Drew.
