Well she is a tomboy or the more correct, tomwoman, and she has been my wife for more than a quarter of a century so logically and if I want another 25 I best be picking her.

Tina Say from day care in 3rd grade. She could jump further off the swing set than anyone and after she landed she'd jump up and shout "Tina Say!" And this was decades before Whatshername on SNL. (Superstar!)

On TV, Jo from Facts of Life.

In movies probably Jodie Foster. Don't even remember the movie and I think we are close to the same age but I've had a crush on her since we were about 8. And that's only partly because she reminded me of Tina Say.

I was fond of Pippi Longstockings too.

The scene where she has to wear a dress and her brother is chided not to laugh is just priceless.

She just glows! I'd seen it on TV before, but it was really good in the theatre in brilliant Technicolor

I’d rather be outside than in. I like getting dirty. I like to sweat. And dresses are icky. Nothing’s changed since I was a very young girl. I’ve always been a tomboy and I will be a tomboy on my deathbed.

in Firefly.

And from my childhood, Trixie Belden, the mystery book heroine. She was soooo much cooler than Nancy Drew.

Irang in the millenium with a lady trucker, much like Lisa kelly onn IRT. She rode a Harley, could ride a wheelie for a block, gearjam an 18 wheeler, and kick my ass. (5th degree black belt.) She is long gone downthat long road, but I still dream of herr.

Closely followed by Princess Fiona from "Shrek".

Although I have the feeling that Princess Merida from the upcoming "Brave" is going to be high on my list.

I read a nice biography about her, she was quite athletic and wore trousers before a lot of other women.
