and one of the most fun to watch... ............originally this was about Singing in the Rain the greatest,

it's a great story. Add in the casting, directing, pacing, performances, and it's a perfect musical.

watch it from beginning to end. No interruptions. Auggie is correct, "it is the perfect musical"

and........it is a truly great movie. and incredibly fun to watch. Wonderful story too..

google it and just add the word "black" and you will often find genius if it is older stuff, before notoriety was equal.

And I have very few musicals in my fan box. VERY few.

Right now, off the top of my head, I can think of only one other, The Music Man.

But when it's really, really great, it's obvious.

Sinatra, Kelley and Jules Munchin (my face) playing sailors on the ... On The Town! Also a very funny movie w great dancing.

My favorite with him has always been as Joel Cairo in The Maltese Falcon where he is exemplary. Never seen him do song and dance. That has to go on the top of the NetFlix queue.

It’s a Cold War comedy love story, with loads of dancing- Astaire and Cyd Charisse.

The film itself has somewhat... dated racial sensibilities, and these can be uncomfortable for the modern viewer. Regardless, the Lindy Hop scene is incredible:
