Resolved: Graham Nash is the greatest writer of songs based on personal experiences

Just off the top of my head, Graham Nash has written many very good songs drawn from his own real life experiences:

Marrakesh Express
Immigration Man
Please Come to Chicago
Our House
Cathedral

I know there are more. Is there another songwriter who has written as many really good songs based on such esoterica as a train ride in Morocco, having trouble crossing the border, imploring his friends to join him in protesting injustice, setting up housekeeping with a new girlfriend, or even (fer crissakes) a heroin trip?

and according to Joni's new bio, she never said one bad word about Nash...2014 He put out Wild Tales and trashed her....she just spoke out in this book, Reckless Daughter.

He dumped his wife of many many years for an exact replica of her, younger.....I know we should separate the private lives....

But Neil is so far and away above Nash in writing....and passion.

It's Getting Better is one of them. Written while walking his dog and talking about the weather.

If you have not read his autobiography you should. It is massive but very good. So is Keith Richards.

I appreciate his voice as much as anything.

But he ain’t no Bob Dylan!

And if anyone is an obscure music aficionado like I am, here’s a quote for you:

“I’ll stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table and scream ‘Townes Van Zandt is the best singer songwriter of all time”
-Steve Earle

And damned if I, as a die hard Dylan fan as I am, don’t believe him. If you don’t know Townes...do yourself a favor and check him out.

“I’ve met Bob Dylan’s bodyguards, and if Steve Earle thinks he can stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table, he’s sadly mistaken,”

specifically heard about (the story) and it was Just A Song Before I Go....The story is something about where ever he was the person asked him if he could write a song before he went and he did and it became Just A Song Before I Go....

I saw him last summer on Cape Cod, and he explained before each song just what was the story behind every one of them.

But you could say that about many singer-songwriters, many of which have been mentioned here, and one who has not: Bob Dylan.
