The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo how many of you can I run into during my gardening talk travels this year?
Here is my speaking schedule
http://www.craiglehoullier.com/upcoming-events/
So - Gardening DUers near Chicago, Detroit, Gillette, Hartford, coastal Virginia - and I am thinking Tulsa and Monticello will be added for the fall.
Give me a heads up if you be in these locations - not sure of my schedule yet (or which my wife will be accompanying me on) - that determines whether it is a travel/speak/return, or a bit more relaxed (as in a mini vacation!)

P.S.
What's a good tomato for those watching their carbs? Thinking one which goes well with balsamic vinegar either with field greens or as a capri salad.

(60,026 posts)If you are aware of any big master gardener groups or arboretum/botanical gardens that host speakers, give me a plug - I've not had luck yet.
I am actually working on a webinar series (take some of the travel pressure off, do a bit more from the comfort of my office and laptop!) Also busy at work on book 3.
The tomato you describe would be a more tart tasting, lower sugar variety - a yellow early Russian variety (whoops - are they now to be shunned! ha ha) Azoychka - also a few of our short growing dwarf varieties fit the bill....drop me a DU mail with your mailing address and I can get some seeds off to you.
My daughter grew tomatoes successfully in Abilene last summer from plants I mailed to her!

Though I'm not connected with them. Here are a few things which might be of use for your other request...

Also, this guy is very well connected and might be able to offer some advice.

(60,026 posts)My wife and I are driving X country in May/June - not sure of our route yet.
If you have ideas on MG groups, arboretum, etc - that's who I look to for invites.
Seeds - sure - DU mail me your snail mail address and what you want.
