It's pretty big, I won't lie to you. It usually takes me 3 hours.
However, you will be rewarded. I'll pay you tree-fiddy, and give you a nice snack, maybe a bowl of cottage cheese.
Don't waste time responding here, just get over here and do it.

(22,055 posts)I'm in NE Pennsylvania in the mountains by the Delaware River. The forecast is for 8""-12" so I'm hunkered down.
Sorry, Lucky. Neither of us is lucky today.

(17,460 posts)The bad part is...you go out there for a few hours, get it done, and then do the same thing a time or two more, later. Good luck. Don't forget to take water breaks. Keep hydrated.
And same to you!
My great uncle and one of my longest friends both died of heart attacks when shoveling their driveways. I don't want to go that way!

(17,460 posts)And I'll be laying there "paw up", like road kill, and nobody will stop and see if I'm ok. I don't mean to make light of it, but I've actually convinced myself that is what will happen. Around here, you wave at people as a courtesy when they drive by, and they ignore you.
Really sorry to hear about your great uncle, and your friends. My dad died suddenly like that from a heart attack. Life is messed up sometimes.
I've read that dehydration can bring this on when it otherwise may not have occurred. We don't tend to think about drinking water when shoveling because it is cold out. Report back later!

You take care as well.

(17,460 posts)Coughed up a big organ, but I'm not sure what it was. it was green and football shaped. I tried to retrieve it, but a crow got it.
Seriously though, I was hacking up a lung out there. I hope it's not the flu.

(57,333 posts)and move troops and police agents around in trucks with big steel crowd control blades: you don't really think there's "salt" on the back of those trucks, do you? They're manipulating the weather to make more snow to keep us pinned down, ever notice how many four wheel drives have Trump stickers and confederate flags? There's nothing to do to stop it: the so-called snow has already fallen. I bet it snows next November. People better wake up if its not just too late, now.
Don't argue with me, its just my opinion.

(32,104 posts)4" on the ground here in NE Ohio and it's still coming down steadily. And we had snow on the ground before all this came.
Helped my son clean off his car to get to work and shoveled what the plow dumped up by the road.
I did the walkways .... time for the spouse to do the rest! And my driveway is long, too!
Ahhh, warm coffee .......
Enjoy that coffee...I hope you are done with it for the day!

(54,447 posts)I'm in Paris usually once a week for work, but today, the place is total chaos. They are worse equipped to handle snow than Dallas, almost. My train down here from Sprout City stopped halfway here, and got in about an hour and a half late (for an 80 minute trip!).
Plus, I have to try to get all the way home tonight by the same train route. It's usually less than four hours from Paris to Düsseldorf. I think I'll be lucky to make it in six.

(998 posts)6 inches or so of fluffy (thank goodness!!!) white. 2 car garage wide drive - on a nasty hill. Normal suburb lot length of sidewalks.
The nasty part is when the snowplow comes by and I have to dig out the end of the driveway ... again.
The good news - before I started doing yoga regularly a couple of years ago, this same shoveling task would have required me to take 3 breaks because the body was weak and I would be so winded. Yep! I am happily now a strong old lady. 😁

I've cleared four driveways today, expecting beer and/or baked goods to show up at my door later.
I can get to your driveway about, say, mid-May. Does that work for you?
Don't waste time looking for helpful responses here. Just get out there and do it.

(26,345 posts)The condo association paid for it. I got the treasurer drunk and she agreed to the purchase.
I do the whole block and some of the neighbor's walk up sidewalks.
The first year people were bringing me cookies and wine and fondue. The next year bupkis.
I jokingly said to my partner "maybe I should hang back and let a few people have coronaries, then they'll come crawling with their fondue"
I shouldn't joke about it though. A friend died that way two years ago. Worst part was his 18 son was in his room playing video games.

(23,371 posts)... a third neighbor is not yet retired and has to go to work!
It seems the city plow buries his driveway after he leaves for work. Almost every time. So I clear that barrier as well, in case his wife has to go shopping. Those snowplow piles can do some damage to a car's undercarriage bits.
Hey, think you can get the president of Mexico drunk? Maybe have him pay for a wall? There are some staff openings in the White House ...

i loved shoveling but as i got older (and my back got suckier) my neighbor would snowblow the driveway for me.
now i'm experiencing the joys (<------ sarcasm) of condo living. it comes with a plowing company who usually shows up in the middle of the night. (only after a snowfall lol!)
we're supposed to get a ton of snow thursday night and all friday. i was thinking of taking a snow day due to hazardous driving conditions but now i'm thinking i'll be snowed in and won't be able to get out.

(10,014 posts)I looked up to see the snow plow coming back down the street. He must have noticed my sad look because he tooted the horn and then cleared out the last five feet with his blade. Happy day!
I have a snow thrower but usually can't get it started.
