.....Well, he's also my boyfriend. The censors on my tankless water heater went out. Sunday, over a week ago, suddenly no hot water. Fortunately, still under warranty. The company sent out the part, which arrived yesterday. Although they didn't send it out as quickly as they said they would. BF connected it today. It works. What a sweetie. I'm taking a long, hot shower! First real shower in over a week. I'd been taking bird baths.
Or, as my grandmother used to say...."I wash as far up as possible. Then I wash as far down as possible. Then I wash 'possible'!
You don't realize how great hot water is, until you lose it for 10 days.

(22,048 posts)I'd suggest that if your boyfriend still wants to be with you after not showering for more than a week, he's a keeper!
ETA: "Handyman." Heh, heh, heh...

(426 posts)...All the dirt from the past week must have clogged my brain! That's my excuse, I'm stickin' with it! Come to think of it, the censors would be very crowded sitting on top of the tank, and pretty cold out in the shed.

(426 posts)....he's planning a shed on the west side of the house, between the two bedrooms. I'm going to put all my house plant materials out there and thin out some stuff in the main shed. I'm not as flexible, physically, as I was 20 years ago. With that in mind it's easier to reach something without half a dozen things in front that have to be moved out of the way.
I've enjoyed two showers so far, and washed all the dishes!

(426 posts).....specifically Arkansas? My grandmother was. I also remember reading the same quip from Maya Angelou in "I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings." I believe she grew up in Stamps, Arkansas. Maybe an Arkie thing?

(23,741 posts)Had a leak in pipe under the slab. Repiped whole system. Took a week to have insurance adjuster, water mitigation crew, and getting quotes for repiping. Then week for the repiping. Bought a lot of bottle water, thankfully have a pool and water was still fairly warm, or at least not cold. But boy, that first hot shower was fantastic!

(426 posts)...makes me grateful mine was relatively minor. Same BF tells me about a friend who found a leak in the closet next to the bathroom. So he dug up the floor, trying to trace it. Wasn't there. He follows the leak to the bathroom, but that still wasn't the source. Next was the bedroom, and so on. Turns out the leak was actually outside, next to the spigot! Three loads of drywall, and enough dirt to bury himself later......!

(426 posts)...the Jimmy Jones version best. That was, BTW, the first 45 RPM record I ever bought with my own money. My parents hated it! Serenading me? No. But, he does have a decent enough voice.

(7,813 posts)and it blew me away. Alberta Hunter was a headliner at the Cotton Club way back before the Great Depression - at a time when she could perform there, but not be served a drink there. I had to get the album for myself and it eventually wore out. Don't worry - Napster helped me replace it.
