Before it was acquired by Gibson Brands in 2013, Cakewalk had been one of the most enduring DAWdigital audio workstationdevelopers in the industry. Last November though, Gibson announced that it was closing Cakewalk, and ending the development and production of its products.
Last month, BandLab acquired all of Cakewalks IP and certain assets from Gibson Brands. The company said that the relaunched softwarenow called Cakewalk by BandLabwill include all the core premium features of SONAR Platinum.
The Windows version of Cakewalk by BandLab is available to download now, straight from BandLab's website.

But for someone who is into all the capabilities, that's great, assuming they keep it updated.
I suppose they see that as some kind of enticement for folks to buy other related products (or they are Ruskie hackers).
Thanks for heads up.

Gibson may not be long for this world given the recent history of bad corporate decisions.

I had hopes of finding some nice effect plugins to use locally on some mixes.
I'm not too sure about uploading any of my tunes into the cloud to work with them.
