Ice storm damage to the blooms, so far

I won't know until later in the week if anything can possibly recover because there is more snow in the forecast, tonight. I feel really, REALLY awful, today, and can't figure out if I'm sick or just too to function.

have absolutely no control over, so better to focus on trying to save what we can & hope for the best for the others. The weather is so unpredictable anymore & cruel to the wildlife, plants & animals who have to totally rely on it for their lives & food. It has to be having a very tough effect on them.

In fact, I just refilled the feeders. All through the 2 days of ice, rain and snow, my front yard was filled with all sizes and colors of birds. At least I felt like I was doing something productive.

So sorry about your flowers. I used to be an avid gardener and I'd tense up at the mention of freezing rain in April. I was surprised sometimes, though. Some flowers would just pop back up!

4. I think the tulips might be ok - and maybe some of the daffs

The tulips don't even have buds, yet and the daffs that are more distant from the house haven't gotten tall enough to be broken but only time will tell if the buds will survive.

I picked a big bouquet on Saturday morning, just so that I could have a little enjoyment.

We got a big snow here last May 15th and one of my 50 year old old lilac trees broke in half before I could get to it and knock the heavy snow off. I was heartbroken. Bulbs are remarkably hearty! I’m hoping for the best for your beautiful flowers.

I'm thinning out the more routine blooms (Cosmos, Larkspur, Bachelor Buttons) and enhancing my wild flower garden for the bees and butterflies.

Also adding to the herb garden. Can't have enough fresh picked herbs.

We were in the 80s on Saturday so of course the buds opened. In came 40 mph winds and heavy rain.....

In fact, my ornamental trees all look like they normally would in February. So discouraging. Now I worry that once the fruit and ornamental trees do bloom, we'll get another killer storm. I might be planting all of my veg in pots, this year, so I can bring them inside for warmth!

They survived that snow last week. I have daffodils, hyacinths, and the tulips are just starting to open. It's a very strange year. So sad.

But the goldfinches are in full brilliance! They sure brighten up my day.

so I'm not sure what it was. (I'm in Michigan) I had a woodpecker, the other day, lots of cardinals and blue jays, too. And some really pretty birds with a reddish tint that I'm watching for, again, so I can id it via my new 'Peterson's Guide'.

I'm kind of new to bird watching. I need to buy a good set of binoculars. I really enjoy watching them at the feeders.

We have two inches of snow and ice. Trapped at home. Roads are horrible and the plow has yet to come by. Of course, few of the roads here are paved.

Oy!

Keep bumbled up and warm, my friend.

Bacon and egg sandwich for lunch for me, today.

At least we didn't have any power outages, in my part of the county.

I had my fireplace all ready to use as a heat source, just in case. I think I might just utilize it, today, to take off the chill.

Supposedly it will be in the 60's, by the weekend. But, I won't let my guard down. It was really warm, earlier this month, and look what followed!
