When we get those phone calls:
"Hello, this is Bob from Microsoft Technical Support."
Lately I have been asking him if his mother knows that he's a crook.
Then I hang up.

(37,451 posts)they go through the whole thing to do this and that so they can see whats happening. I've had them hand off to a supervisor, etc...they all think they are making progress after 25-30 minutes. When they keep saying Windows I then tell them I have a Mac. They slamm down the phone.

And make them repeat everything twice, then I *forge*t what they called about half way thru so they have to start again.
" Sorry, what was your name again? Bob..... oh,,,that's right.
I had a cousin named Bob, he used to play ball with the Jr. High team in school. Are you related to him?"

(17,311 posts)It told me I had been selected for a Google Chrome survey and by responding I'd be eligible to win an Apple iPod. I immediately closed the browser and launched my virus scanner, assuming the worst.
The scan picked up nothing, however. I have Googled a few things since and the redirect hasn't appeared again. I don't regret avoiding it as it would have required me to input personal information to be a candidate for the iPod draw, which I doubt was legit.
